The Argente rabbit is one of the oldest breeds of French show rabbits. The American Rabbit Breeders Association recognizes Creme and Champagne colors. At birth, Argentes are of a solid color, with adult coloring beginning to show around four months of age. They are known as excellent pets due to their good nature.
Argente rabbits are large (averaging 10 lbs.), neat, and cautious rabbits with well-developed hind quarters and slightly arched backs. Extremes of cobbiness or raciness are undesirable in shows. With broad heads and straight front legs, they are short and fine in bone. (Wikipedia)

I am looking at D’Argents for meat production, but have friends interested in fiber as well. When they first came to the US they had longer coats, Are there breeders that still look for that quality – have they ever been used for fiber production? Could you with their coat length today? Thank you!!

I don’t know exactly how much length you need for fur production, but Champagnes are less than an inch in hair length so I would imagine it would be hard to spin with it!

You have 2 does and 4 bucks. When will you be breeding them again? Will you be breeding them so the 2 does will have litters at the same time? Will they be bred to different bucks? How much would 2 does and 2 bucks cost? Thanks Sam

Probably for meat as they were designed and bred to hit 5 lbs by 10 weeks on a minimum amount of food.
Our champagnes range in attitude from being affectionate to decidedly standoffish. Just depends on the rabbit!

It depends on the rabbit. We range between $45-$75/rabbit depending on pedigree, conformity, proven breeding ability, etc.

Looking to start in meat rabbits for me and my dogs. I was recommended to try these due to the size and bone to meat ratios. Do you think you have any available for sale in about 3-6mos? I was thinking 1 buck and 2 does to start. Also was looking for high quality food recommendations that are found in this area or can be purchased online for minimal shipping.

We haven’t “shipped” by air, but often send rabbits via car. The national convention is in Ft Worth in three weeks – I bet you could find lots of any type of rabbit you want there!
